MONKARCH

Throughout his entire life; Arthy Villegas, better known as the artist Monkarch, has always had a burning passion for music and helping his community thrive. His mission started in 2009 when he began to learn the art of DJing while also at the same time finishing his high school studies. Shortly after, Arthy/ Monkarch demonstrated his program coordinating skills by creating an opportunity with his coworkers to have his first performance at an assisted living home. It was at this point where he learned the value and experience of how music affects people to create a new sense of emotion and euphoria, no matter who the audience is. Monkarch/ Arthy to this day keeps the same principles when he performs for his fans.

Monkarch has since played a variety of culturally popular venues and clubs throughout Oregon. Some of these include; Shake Bar, Barrel Room, Whiskey Bar, Paris Theater, Produce Row, and White Owl Social Club in Portland. As well as the Night Deposit, and Shotskis in Salem.

In 2016 Monkarch/ Arthy joined the Portland latin-electronic collective Global Based, and in 2017 he debuted as a resident DJ for the collective. With Global Based, Monkarch has had the oppurtunity to share the stage with talented national acts such as; Dave Nada, Tittsworth, Ma-Less, and Jay Silva and has developed long time friendships with them as well.

Monkarch has become a multi-genre favorite ranging from house, trap, and bass; to cumbia, moombahton, tropical house, latin bass and much more. When he is on the tables or producing original music, No BPM or style of music is safe. Aside from music, he has also embarked in different media and art such as; graphic and visual design, directing, radio hosting and even interviewing.

Monkarch continues to actively work side by side with fellow local artists to bring new ideas to the local Oregon scene and is currently working on new entertaining projects for next year. Monkarch is next up in Portland, do yourself a favor and stay connected!
