COP 26, or the 26th annual Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Climate Change, is seen as the last credible opportunity to limit planetary warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
COP 26 is happening now in Glasgow, and participating countries have to submit a Nationally Determined Contribution or NDC to outline their emission reductions. COP 26 is also important because its the first summit for the United States since the Trump presidency, which withdrew from the Paris Climate Accords.
KBOO's Althea Billings spoke with Climate Central's Director of Climate Science Andrew Pershing to learn more about the summit and what's at stake.
