Guest Bob Nikkel talks with Paul and takes listener calls

The Covid-19 pandemic is upping the stress and anxiety levels in all of us, and, like the physical effects of the virus, likely to overburden a mental health care system also suffering from staff shortages and inadequate funding. Bob Nikkel, a former Oregon commissioner for mental health and addictions, joins host Paul Roland to talk about what these challenges are and how more grassroots efforts are needed to both take the pressure off the existing system and provide a better model for people in mental and emotional distress.

The regular first Wednesday Rethinking Psychiatry event this month will not be in person, but instead streamed live from Seattle. Eleta Wright will speak on "Transcending Oppression." To find out more about her and the subject of her talk, and how to watch, go to Rethinking's website here.
