Former Portland Police Chief Danielle Outlaw resigned her office at the end of December, taking a job as Philadelphia’s Police Commissioner. Appointed in 2017, she was Portland’s first female African American police chief, and she also be the first African American woman to be appointed Police Commissioner in Philadelphia.

Days after her announcement, Mayor Ted Wheeler selected her replacement, Deputy Chief of Police Jami Resch.

KBOO's Sam Bouman and Yasemin Cobanoglu speak with Dan Handleman of Portland Copwatch to discuss Outlaw's exit, her replacement, and what comes next.
