Artist Angela Pozzi's animal sculptures are as striking as they are colorful. Come a little closer though, and the skin of a shark or polar bear comes into focus. The sculptures are made of trash. Not just any trash either, trash collected from Oregon beaches by Pozzi's non-profit group, Washed Ashore.
The trash is aggregated by the Bandon group and is then sorted and structured into massive, colorful sculptures of those animals most harmed by plastic pollution in our oceans.
Pozzi's work has been displayed at the Oregon Zoo and at the Smithsonian.
KBOO's Annette Newell and Althea Billings got to speak with Pozzi about her works of art, the collaborative process behind it, and her message for consumers this holiday season.
