Monday’s You Tube coverage of the federal same-sex marriage case was put hold on just before the start of the trial. Some legal experts say that an emergency “stay” order is unusual in a non-criminal case such as this one. This would have been one of the first federal trials in the country where cameras were allowed. Civil liberties groups disagree with this ruling and say that in a democracy, the public should have access to the courts.
Yesterday Basic Rights Oregon Executive Director Jeanna Frazzini voiced her concerns about the ruling.
