On this edition of Free Culture Radio: Venezuela and the Rule of Law.
In a blatant violation of international law, on January 3 the United States kidnapped Venezuelan head of state Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores and took them to New York, where they’re standing trial on federal conspiracy charges relating to drugs and weapons trafficking. The Commons Foreign Affairs Committee of the UK Parliament met February 3 to take oral evidence from experts on the western hemisphere and international law on the question: What can we learn from Venezuela? On this edition of Free Culture Radio we hear presentations by two of the witnesses: Professor Janina Dill, Fellow at Trinity College Oxford and Co-Director of the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict, and Professor Antonios Tzanakopoulos, Professor of Public International Law at Oxford.
