How nature murals connect Portlanders with the wealth of nature areas around them
Portland is noted for its abundant urban natural areas and the wildlife that abounds in many spots not far from downtown. But the city is also becoming a center for nature murals that help residents become more aware of the wealth of nature areas around them.

On this episode of Locus Focus we'll take a look at a couple major art projects in recent years that highlight two of Portland's emerging nature partks—Oaks Bottom in Sellwood and the Marquam Trail that winds through the Tualatin Mountains in SW Portland. We'll talk with Leslie Pohl-Kasbau, who was involved with Lynn Takata's just completed public mosaic for the Marquam trail head near Duniway Park, and Mike Houck, who was the inspiration for ArtFX Mural's mega-mural overlooking the Bluff Trail through Oaks Bottom.
