I began this month's episode as a 4AD Records deep dive into the highly innovative British post punk/goth/alternative label's early catalog and, at some point, got a strong hankering for second and third tier thrash, death and heavy metal from the 80's and 90's. Not exactly sure why, but I believe it was some kind of coping response to the terrifying and bewildering state of America and beyond at this moment, and I sought that music out as an escape to what felt like simpler times to me - my adolescence. Why 2nd and 3rd tier? No idea, it just felt fun and nostalgic and underrepresented.

These two episode themes couldn't be further apart. If you don't care for one style, things change at the halfway mark. But hey, you might just find yourself getting turned onto something unexpected if you delve into the ep in its entirety!
