Nitrogen-fixing fava beans and crimson clover
Tasks for the fall…and timing harvests for peak tastiness. Plus, more on honey and honey harvesting.

Host Glen Andresen and co-pilot Jim Gilbert are back for another live show. It's time to get ready for fall, it's time to prepare produce for storage, and it's time to start planting cover crops. And more on what honey is and how it is extracted from the hive and then the comb.

As always, we'll have a new Plant of the Month (nitrogen-fixing cover crops) and a new Garden Stumper (the winner gets a free sharpening of a hand tool from Cully Farm Store in Northeast Portland!). Plus, our Dirtbag Dictionary term is "advantitious shoot." And, of course, what Glen is trying to understand this month.

Don't forget, if you have a gardening question, and don't want to call in, you can always email us at thedirtbag@kboo.org -- we'll answer your question on the air during the next show.

The Dirtbag, a garden variety show... Listen. Laugh. Learn.
