We'll hear some amazing jazz guitar from Steve Khan and a few words from his dad, Sammy Cahn who was one of the most prolific lyricists to ever live and doubly relevant since today is Father's Day as well as Sammy's birthday.
It's also the birthday of the great Mexican poet Efrain Huerta and to celebrate we'll feature a brand new, posthumous collab with Jairo Guerrero. June 18th is also the birthday of Swedish artist Magnus Uggla, jazz trombonist Jimmy Cheatham, Eight Beat Mac (Ray McKinley), and Irish artist Iarla O'Lionaird so we'll hear their talents as well.
Our beloved neighbor Fred Rogers will help the hard-hided Lee Strasberg to open up a bit and we'll also hear a portion of an interview he conducted with Lorrin Hollander as part of a docuseries that is unfortunately now almost entirely lost--but what we do have still shines.
We'll recall the times in our own lives when we've been treated cruelly and what it takes to forgive with tracks by Danielson, Jan Mulder, and Sturgill Simpson. We'll consider the symbolism of the sacred heart with Ronnie James Dio, Motorsheep, David Rebollo, and Earth Wind & Fire.
Then Implications will be considered regarding Pluto's recent entry into Aquarius and we'll meditate on the movements of the cosmic clockwork while preparing to move from Gemini into Cancer at the Summer solstice with a new one from Dodgr before handing it off with Magazine 60
And first we kick it off by remembering Billy Rancher, his enduring contribution to the Portland Sound, and how essential his family was to the arc of his too short but still massive life
