Marcia Hocker interviews Portland drummer Christopher Brown, an acclaimed musician, composer, bandleader and educator who seeks to be a voice within the advocacy of Jazz music and American culture. His musical experiences include synthesizing the Jazz principles with the day-to-day practicalities of life.

At 2pm, Bob Riddle takes over. His set will feature the Phil Woods 20th Anniversary 5-disc set, published by Mosaic records in 1995. Interspersed will be Phil's wry anecdotes from his excellent column "Phil In The Gap" from the newsletter of the Al Cohn Memorial Jazz Collection, called "The Note". This collection is, and has been housed since 1990, at East Stroudsburg University, PA -the long-time and final residence of close friends Phil and Al. Al Cohn's excellent music will be woven through as well. You'll hear Portland connections during the show.
