A Portland State University Master of Fine Arts Lecture Series offers free public art lectures almost every Monday night of the school year. Tonight at 7:30pm, see Portland-based artist Akihiko Miyoshi's exploration of the intersection between art and technology--particularly with issues surrounding photographic representation. Portland Community College's Cascade Campus is having a food drive for Migrant Camps, while PCC's Rock Creek Campus will be collecting children's picture books, hygiene items, laundry and cleaning supplies, bath towels and men's clothing for migrant workers in our area. Peter Lumsdaine will be speaking at the Multnomah Friends Meetinghouse from 7 to 9pm challenging robotic warfare and social control. Lumsdaine is the founder of Alliance to Resist Robotic Warfare Society and an expert on robotic surveillance and warfare. He writes and lectures addressing peace and international security.
