What does it mean for something to be a public health crisis? While the pandemic certainly qualifies, the CDC has certain criteria to decide what may be declared a public health crisis. The official label means that greater resources can be devoted to addressing the crisis.

Leslie Gregory is the founder and director of Right to Health US, a non-profit organization that is pushing for racism to be named as a public health crisis. Gregory is a certified physician's assistant and Navy veteran. She spoke with KBOO's Althea Billings about the relationship between racism and public health and how an official crisis label could put resources in the right places.
