“Led by the drummer and composer Francisco Mora-Catlett - the son of the Mexican painter Francisco Mora and the African-American sculptor Elizabeth Catlett - AfroHORN seeks a mystical but earthy vision of rhythm and folklore, inspired not only by Afro-Cuban music but also the Sun Ra Arkestra, in which Mr. Mora-Catlett played in the 1970s…”

Mexican drummer Francisco Mora Catlett started his professional career with Los Profetas, and when Sun Ra needed a drummer during his three month stay in Mexico, Mora Catlett passed the audition to play with the Arkestra, which he followed back to the United States. After his departure from the band, he worked with Max Rocj for fifteen years. He has lso played with mny other American jazz musicians, and created his own ban, Afro-Horn.

He will be joining us live from New York City.
