Fighting Prisons in the New Year: Allyship in the New Age of Abolition
Adam Carpinelli will interview Ashanti Alston for a second part of an ongoing discussion about resistance to the Prison Industrial Complex (PIC) and Political Prisoner (PP) amnesty. He is based in Rhode Island and is the National Secretary for The Jericho Movement. Ashanti is a former prisoner, identifies as an Anarchist Panther and has contributed to the building of a national networks called Anarchist People of Color and Critical Resistance. Alston will explain the need for organizations and movements led by People of Color and what that says about white allyship. His background organizing against the PIC as well as amnesty work for long term u.s.-held Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War from the Civil Rights/COINTELPRO era will be discussed.
