Republican Attack on Social Security
We speak with Eric Kingson, Co-director of Strengthen Social Security about an attack by the Republican Party on the Social Securiy program on the first full working day of the new Congress.
The mission of Social Security Works is to protect and improve the economic status of disadvantaged and at-risk populations, and, in so doing, to promote social justice for current and future generations of children as well as young, middle-aged and older adults.
Eric Kingson, professor of social work at Syracuse University, is founding co-director of Social Security Works and co-chair of the Strengthen Social Security Coalition (www.socialsecurityworks.org ). His forthcoming book (January 2015 with Nancy Altman) is Social Security Works! Why Social Security Isn't Going Broke and Why Expanding It will Help Us All (New York, N.Y.: The New Press).
