Chris Kokesh and LJ Booth join host Ed Mellnik on KBOO’s new Singer/Songwriter edition of The Monday Sampler June 3rd, 2pm to 4pm.
Kokesh is perhaps best known as the fiddle player with the band Misty River that played in the Northwest for 15 years. Booth is a songwriter originally from Wisconsin who SING OUT! called “a master craftsman of incredibly profound songs.” Booth transplanted to the Rose City when he and Kokesh married in 2012.
Kokesh has quickly earned a reputation as an engaging solo performer, as well as a versatile fiddle player and harmony singer. She released her first full-length solo effort October Valentine in 2010, debuting on the Folk DJ charts at #20.
Booth is an accomplished singer and songwriter whose distinctive guitar playing sets him apart. John McCutcheon says, “few writers I know are as musical, literate and elegant.” His latest CD The Road That Leads Me Home (2010) was recorded live, and captures elements of Booth’s show which can be both revelatory and the joyfully raucous.
