Hurricane Sandy, Elections, review of a Howard Zinn biography, anarchist POV on electoral politics

Joe Clement hosts this pre-Election Day Old Mole and we hear:

  • Bill Resnick talks with Kathleen Tierney, a sociologist and the director of the UC Boulder Natural Hazards Center. They discuss Hurricane Sandy's long term political impacts.
  • Book Mole, Alan Weider, reviews "Howard Zinn: a life on the left" by Martin Duberman,  a new biography of the late radical historian Howard Zinn.
  • We have a special roundtable discussion between Bill, Alan, and Old Mole Frann Michel about electoral strategy. They compare the respective dangers associated with Obama and Romney, the political dynamic between the presidency and the congress and what that means for advancing progressive causes, and to that end whether Obama may be a worse candidate on some issues.
  • Joe briefly reflects with Utah Phillips on elections and electoral politics from an anarchist perspective.
