This Friday at 11am on Radiozine, on KBOO Community Radio 90.7 FM in Portland and streaming online at kboo.fm, we bring you a powerful panel discussion exploring The U.S.–Israel Alliance. Recorded live on January 15th at Fremont United Methodist Church, this timely conversation examines the strategic, economic, political, and cultural dimensions of America’s support for Israel.

The panel features Joel Beinin, Professor Emeritus of Middle East History at Stanford University and former director of the Middle East Studies Program at the American University in Cairo; Wael Elasady, longtime Portland advocate for Palestinian rights and co-founder of Students United for Palestinian Equal Rights at PSU; and Mazen Malik, economist, scholar, and lifelong advocate for civil and human rights with more than four decades of organizing and scholarship on Palestine and public policy. The discussion is moderated by acclaimed novelist and cultural critic Lydia Kiesling, author of The Golden State and Mobility.

Together, the panelists offer historical context, personal experience, and political analysis to better understand one of the most consequential and debated international relationships shaping U.S. foreign policy today. From questions of military aid and economic ties to cultural narratives and grassroots activism, this conversation invites listeners to think critically about the forces that sustain the U.S.–Israel alliance and its impact both abroad and here at home.

This event was sponsored by the American Council for Palestine, the Jewish-Palestinian Alliance of Oregon, Jewish Voice for Peace–Portland, and the Democratic Socialists of America–Portland, with special thanks to Fremont United Methodist Church. Don’t miss this important discussion, airing Friday, February 13th at 11am on KBOO Community Radio, 90.7 FM in Portland and online at kboo.fm.
