TONIGHT on A DIFFERENT NATURE
CARLA KIHLSTEDT
Tune in to KBOO tonight (MON) from 8:00 to 10:00 PM for a (fairly) in-depth exploration of the music and busy career of violinist/composer/vocalist CARLA KIHLSTEDT
Join us as we, along with Carla herself, listen to the many musical settings this diverse classically-trained artist has found herself in-- many of her projects have led her to a style of composition that is largely based on literary texts, including Polish-Jewish artist Bruno Schulz, Humphrey Jennings' Pandaemonium-The Coming of The Machine 1660-1886, Luis Borges' Tales of Imaginary Creatures and tonight, she is bringing (and will debut!) brand new pieces from TIN HAT's newest project--music to surround the poems of e. e. cummings.
Ms. Kihlstedt will be in Portland this week recording (in a non-descript storefront bldg in SE) AND performing w/Tin Hat at The Mission Theatre, Thursday, May 19, 8 pm including some of their new songs from the (still untitled) e. e. cummings project and and CARLA will join us live in the KBOO studios as our special guest!
hosted by daniel and danielle of the A Different Nature collective.
