Guess Who's Coming to Radio??!! on 08/12/10

good people!!!  beginning on the 12th of august, we will be returning to a (semi-regular) schedule for 'guess who's coming to radio??!!', alternating every other week with 'PAULA'S PICKS'!

on the 5th thursdays we have keller and 'SAK PA SE!' 

we'll be returning to our 'old' selves, discussing issues important to descendants of the motherland of africa, with the intention of being solutions-oriented.

this thursday, we will be discussing the role of media in influencing government, and how this influences the rights of citizens.  in particular, we will discuss:

-the wikileaks pentagon documents

-the growing illegality of documenting police in action

-the vulnerability of net neutrality (by way of the google/verizon deal) and the government's reluctance/inaction in regulating these deals

-wyclef jean (best known as a member of the fugees) making the decision to run in the haitian presidential election

-and by extension, the growing number of surveillance cameras in china- this is important to discuss, as media coverage of this intends to demonize the actions of the chinese government, as policies are simultaneously put in place in this country to increase surveillance (warrant-less wiretapping, amongst many other things)...
