Suzanne LaGrande interviews poet Octaviano Merecias-Cuevas and Pulitzer prize winner Jennifer Egan.
 
Jennifer Egan is the author of A Visit from the Goon Squad, The Keep, Look at Me, The Invisible Circus and the story collection Emerald City. In 2011, she won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and was a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award. In this interview with Suzanne LaGrande, Ms. Egan talks about how and why she became a writer and some of the stumbling blocks she encountered along the way.

Octaviano Merecias-Cuevas is a trilingual Mixtec poet. Born in Oaxaca, Mexico. He holds an MA in Contemporary Hispanic Studies from The School of Language, Culture and Society at Oregon State University. In this interview he talks about how he became a poet, language activism and the process of writing in three languages.
