We’re joined live in the studio today by Gemma Whelan, Portland-based and Irish-born writer, director, and educator. After leaving Ireland for the U.S., Gemma settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she directed more than 60 stage productions and was founding artistic director of Wilde Irish Productions. She continued her theater career here in Portland, founding Corrib Theatre, and serving as artistic director until her retirement in 2022.
For several years now, Gemma has shared her experience and knowledge by conducting theater tours in her homeland of Ireland. The sixth annual Irish Theatre Tour takes place this summer, from July 22nd through August 1st.
