This week on Century of Lies: Launch of the European Union Drugs Agency.

The European Monitoring Centre on Drugs and Drug Addiction was the European Union’s drugs monitoring agency. Technically the EMCDDA is no more but it hasn’t closed, it’s changed: The EMCDDA is now called the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA). It’s not only a new name, the agency’s mandate has also changed. The question is whether these changes will have an impact on the quality of data, the types of publications and webinars, and the agencies areas of focus? More broadly going forward, what does the agency’s expanded mandate mean? What does the future hold?

To learn more, our intrepid host Doug McVay attended the EUDA’s July Third news conference announcing the relaunch. We hear from Ylva Johansson, Commissioner of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Immigration and Home Affairs, and Alexis Goosdeel, Executive Director of the EMCDDA and now of the EUDA.
