This episode of The Talking Earth, hosted by dan raphael, will feature Josh Gaines,, dan raphael (last minute fill-in) and Armin Tolentino o (as first broadcast May of 21.) As usual I'll throw in poems by a couple other poets.
Josh Gaines ditched a promising military career to write books, run a profitless press, and build blanket forts with his daughter. He earned his writing MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has had fiction published in Two Cities Review, the Viable series from Zoetic Press, Nebula Rift, and in London's, Dark Mountain. His poetry appears in numerous anthologies and journals, as well as in his own books of poetry and flash fiction: Cigarette Sonatas, and little bones from Thoughtcrime Press.
Armin Tolentino is the current poet laureate of Clark County. He grew up in New Jersey and received his MFA at Rutgers U in Newark. Today's poems are from his book We Meant to Bring it Home Alive from Alternating Current Press. His poetry has appeared Hyphen Magazine, Arsenic, Lobster, Raven Chronicles and many elsewhere.
for over 40 years dan raphael has been active in Portland and elsewhere as poet. performer. editor and reading host. dan will be reading from his 26th book--and he loves the number 26--In the Wordshed, which should be out by the end of the year. As the title implies, the poems here focus more on wordplay, on language as a medium, than previous books.
