Mole Desiree Hellegers and Dan Handelman of Portland Peace and Justice Works/Copwatch reflect on the remarkable life and legacy of Portland activist Yvonne Simmons, a teenage runaway and London street kid, who became a folksinger and international peace activist with the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and Women in Black. A co-founder of Portland Peace and Justice Works, Simmons dodged shipers and mortar rounds in the 1990s to bring aid to women and children during the siege of Sarajevo. Yvonne died in July.
