
Movie Mole Jan Haaken talks with psychologist Emaline Friedman about the 2020 documentary, “The Social Dilemma”, a film directed by Jeff Orlowski that tells a story of the manipulative forces behind social media and how they are rewiring our brains. Friedman is a critical psychologist and author of Internet Addiction: A Critical Psychology of Users, a book that looks at the concept of internet addiction in the context of late capitalism. Friedman is also an editor of the online journal Mad in America: Science, Psychiatry and Social Justice. She works on peer-to-peer technologies, aiming to bring cooperativism and ethical data management into the digital world.
