Bike ride to save the Gulf

Faced with the worst environmental disaster in US history, many people in the Gulf region have adopted a fatalistic attitude.
But community organizer Malik Rahim, who pulled together relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, says this is no time for despair.
Instead, he has committed himself to biking from Louisiana to Washington DC to call for a restoration of the Gulf.
In doing so, he says he hopes to restore hope to a region that has been devastated twice in a five year period.
Malik Rahim spoke with KBOO about his bike ride to restore the Gulf.
