Host Ken Jones talks with Meg Vogt, author of the new book of photographs and poems MYKU: My Portland.
“MYKU” is what Meg calls her variations on the haiku form, a poem in three lines of five, seven, and five syllables. The book pairs Meg’s MYKU’s with photographs from her Portlandia collection – scenes and characters from Meg’s home city of Portland, Oregon.
In the words of writer Davia Larson: "Meg Vogt is what you would call, with absolutely no hyperbole, a Renaissance woman. From her northern Wisconsin childhood, to her days as a video editor in L.A., and a ski bum in Colorado, to her present incarnation as a professional -- and semi-famous, at least in her neighborhood, Sullivan's Gulch-- dog walker/poet/diver/photographer, Meg has done, seen, and, probably, photographed it all."
We’re fortunate to have Meg with us now to talk about MYKU: My Portland, and her past and present incarnations.
