Please join us this Tuesday at 6pm on Transpositive PDX on KBOO Community Radio for our Halloween edition! It is October and this is the season of transitions. Transitioning into fall, transitioning into the rain, saying goodbye to the sun and hello to a deeper time of introspection. This week on Transpositive we are joined by Kura Madrone, Alyssa Pagan and Nico Serra. Kura Madrone is a Bigender Intuitive Medium. She has been in communication with those that have passed since she was a child. "My experience with the spiritual realm is a combination of whimsy, humor, daring, revelation, and comfort." Guinevere will be talking with her about her life, her gender and her health as a child.
On Sunday, October 21st the New York Times reported that the Trump administration released a draft memo directing the Department of Health and Human Services to begin a process which would ultimately define gender according to an arbitrary category defined by the administration which if implemented would be in contradiction to science and established law. Such a draconian policy is a call to arms by the Transgender community which once again finds itself on the front lines of attack by the neo-fascist right wing Trump administration.
In response to the memo Portland's Transgender community came together in solidarity and with the support of Basic Rights Oregon and Pride Northwest organized a panel discussion on Thursday, October 25th with members of the community including a representative of the Kate Brown administration, the ACLU, the Trans Law Caucus, and our guests this week Alyssa Pagan, trans community leader and co-chair of Jobs with Justice and Nico Serra, delegate to the DNC and organizer for the trans and differently abled community. They will be talking about the implications of the Trump Memo and what we can do to resist.
Transpositive is a monthly program in Portland exploring themes important to those who identify as Transgender, Gender Non Binary and Gender Non-Conforming. Transpositive tries to connect listeners with the ongoing activist, arts, culture, and dialogue happening in Portland and beyond.
