Decriminalizing Poverty

Philip Alston, the Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights from the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights, recently completed a visit to the United States. His report was a damning indictment of the growing class divide within the US. He brought particular focus to the criminalization of poverty and the devastating impact that this has on American society.
