Five years ago, I launched this themed series of broadcasts during a membership drive in Black History Month. The Grateful Dead covered scores of songs written and/or performed by dozens of well-known and obscure black artists. These broadcasts feature the song as originally recorded, followed by a carefully selected cover from the Dead.
