Resist Hate. Protest the Debate!
6–9pm @ Lewis & Clark College Templeton Building, 0615 Southwest Palatine Hill Road
Jessica Vaughan from the hate group Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) has been invited by the Lewis & Clark College International Symposium student group to speak at a campus debate on Tuesday. While other events in this series are open to the public, this specific talk has been closed off to exclusive invitees. In exchange for using this platform to spread her hateful rhetoric, Vaughan is likely receiving a large stipend from a school that receives federal funding.
While we would prefer that Vaughan be disinvited for her hate speech and her pay be donated to immigrants right groups, until that occurs we are calling for the community to peacefully protest outside of the event. Hate has no place in our community. We will gather in front of the Templeton Building.

Free Self-Defense Class for Women/ Safer Streets

Free self-defense class for women experiencing homelessness, poverty, mental health or addiction issues, for sex workers, and for survivors of violence or abuse. Queer and trans friendly. All ages and abilities. They welcome folks with disabilities, including those who use mobility aids.
Unity at the Intersections

Join the Feminists of Color Action Team(FOCAT) for screen printing, story sharing, and decompression with tea and pan dulce. This is a space for folks of color as well as one which centers the voices of women and femmes.
Survivor Speak Out 2017

The PSU Women's Resource Center invites you to their annual Survivor Speakout, in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The evening will be dedicated to giving survivors the space and opportunity to share their stories and experiences of how sexual violence has impacted them. Survivors, allies, and accomplices are welcome.

Portland's Resistance is holding its first Femme & Non Binary Resistance Happy Hour Friday, March 3rd from 6pm to 9pm at a local owned business in NE Portland. As a trans inclusive space, they invite female and non-binary identified people to meet, and network.

Daniel McGowan Speaks at PSU

Former political prisoner Daniel McGowan talks about his experiences in the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), time in federal prison, & the necessity of broadening the scope of radical movements and supporting prisoners as we face a rising of the far right.
Daniel will talk about being an activist, the years spent in the Pacific Northwest as well as what the Trump administration means for people that are part of resistance movements.

Troublemakers from the Pacific Northwest are gathering for a day of strategizing and skills-building to strengthen our workers' movement. Hear from union leaders and activists about how to fight back at work and win. Network and strategize with local organizers to take on looming budget cuts and the right-to-work threat.
Direct Action Training for Groups
10am-7pm
Our capacity to resist is directly correlated to our capacity to self-organize on a massive scale. They invite you to join us for a non-violent direct action training for groups of people who want to develop their ability to take powerful strategic collective action. They ask that you show up in a group of at least 3 people - there will be a lot of information given and you might have to split up at all points to absorb it all.
Milenio.org Public Meeting- Your turn to speak out

Second Saturday Social Justice

So much happened in March with the non indictment of an officer in the case of murdered youth #QuaniceHayes his funeral, burial, and the protest. For activists, volunteers and organizers it's a very important time to build our communication and outreach strategy for this grieving family. We will also discuss ways to constructively answer questions about the current political events and clarify local myths about who #DontShootPDX is, represents and advocate for. Local media and city hall miscommunication about demonstrations and protests happening in solidarity movements is a safety issue and proves to be to the detriment of those seeking advocacy and support.
Domestic Violence Awareness Fundraiser for Los Ninos Cuentan

On Saturday April 8th, DeNicolas will be opening early in support for Los Ninos Cuentan, a local organization that provides direct outreach and services to survivors of domestic abuse.
Pride Forever: LGBTQ History Tour
12 noon @ Voodoo Doughnut, 22 SW 3rd Ave
Pride Forever examines the compelling stories of LGBTQ history in Portland, from pivotal spaces in which LGBTQ folks built community, to precious moments that galvanized the entire movement. This tour includes powerful in-person testimonials from local LGBTQ leaders and allies, as well as anecdotes from those who came before on topics such as 19th century cross dressing, the fight against AIDS, and violence against the trans community.
10,690 Wild Flowers Discussion + Workshop
1 - 3 PM @ C3:Initiative, 7326 N. Chicago Ave
nicole gugliotti's project, "10,690 Wild Flowers" explores and honors how each person's story of accessing abortion in the U.S. is unique and important. The ceramic flowers in the piece are handmade by viewers in collaboration with local reproductive justice organizations and are currently displayed and for sale at four locations in Portland, including c3, Planned Parenthood Columbia, and the Downtown Womwn's Center. Proceeds benefit the Network for Reproductive Options, Oregon's independent abortion fund.

Our community raised nearly $11,000 for the ACLU of Oregon at our February bake sale... and we're back for more! Climate and Energy Justice, a talk by Jo Ann Hardesty

The transition to a renewable energy infrastructure will itself require changes that can be disruptive. Climate justice means that the concerns and needs of impacted and front line communities are at the forefront of solutions to the climate crisis.

Workshop - Misinformation and Political Propaganda

We are overwhelmed with messages from politicians, news sources and other media. Learn to distinguish truth from fiction using critical thinking strategies. The workshop uses real world examples of political ads, news headlines, graphs / charts, the effect of word choice in messaging, statistical data and other types of information in a “what do you see here? / what is missing?” format. The last part is about finding accurate information. The goal is to help people become their own “factchecker”.

April Civic Drinks - Housing Affordability

Housing affordability affects everyone, regardless of income. Fewer federal dollars are available to fund affordable housing projects, forcing developers to navigate a patchwork of state and local funding sources. The Legislature has limited what localities may do to encourage affordability, provide tax sunsets and enforce tenant’s rights. At a minimum, they need to end the ban on local rent regulation as recommended in the report.

Take Back the Night: Consent Culture and the Freedom to Change

Feminista Jones will the keynote speaker for Take Back the Night 2017! FJ is a mental health social worker, sex-positive feminist writer, and community activist from New York City. She is an award-winning blogger and author. For two years, she hosted a sex-positive feminist podcast called This Week In Blackness: After Dark, which discussed topics related to sex and sexuality, race, and feminism. She launched a global anti-street harassment campaign (#YouOKSis) and a National Moment of Silence protesting police brutality (#NMOS14), both of which received international media attention. For this work, she was awarded the 2014 Black Weblog Award for Outstanding Online Activism. Jones describes herself "as a post-modern sex-positive, Black feminist woman, which basically means that i'm multi-faceted, at least in my expression of myself and my embodiment of feminism. I exist in a new era of critical thinking and self-identification. I promote the positive aspects of sex, sexuality, and sexual liberation." #pdxtbtn

Food Chains - The Revolution In America's Fields

Screening of "FOOD CHAINS - The Revolution in America’s Fields"
In this exposé, an intrepid group of Florida farmworkers battle to defeat the $4 trillion global supermarket industry through their ingenious Fair Food program, which partners with growers and retailers to improve working conditions for farm laborers in the United States.
There is more interest in food these days than ever, yet there is very little interest in the hands that pick it. Farmworkers, the foundation of our fresh food industry, are routinely abused and robbed of wages. In extreme cases they can be beaten, sexually harassed or even enslaved – all within the borders of the United States.
Food Chains reveals the human cost in our food supply and the complicity of large buyers of produce like fast food and supermarkets.
