Duane Poncy & Patricia J. McLean write poetry and fiction here in Portland, where they live in the Milepost5 arts community.
McLean's writing - poetry, short stories, and non-fiction prose - has appeared in various publications, including Windfall, The Lake, Panache, Trillium, Continental Drift and The Green Voice. She has also written two poetry chapbooks: The Smell of God and The Lines of My Palms. Right now, she's working on a novel.
Poncy, a lifelong activist and advocacy journalist, is an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation who writes speculative fiction, fantasy, and literary mysteries, often containing Native American characters and themes. His current project is the Sweetland Novels; the first volume, Skyrmion, is done - the second and third are in progress.
Patty and Duane were members of Portland's guerrilla poetry group Roadside Bomb, and have co-authored both the mystery novel Bartlett House and The Germaine Truth, an experimental web fiction. They co-founded Elohi Gadugi (a Cherokee phrase meaning "the world working together in community"): Five years of producing the poetry series "Readings at Milepost 5," publishing a literary journal, and operating The Habit of Rainy Nights Press, which published the much-praised collection Raising Our Voices: An Anthology of Oregon Poets Against the War.
