Animator Kathy Zielinski

Kathy Zielinski is a pioneering artist and filmmaker who's been called "The Queen of Animated Villains" for helping bring to life such characters as Ursula the Sea Witch in The Little Mermaid and Jafar in Aladdin.

Wbile visiting Portland for an ASIFA event, she sat down with S.W. Conser to talk about riding the technological waves from hand-drawn 2-D feature films to computer-generated imagery, the importance of pose and expression in both human and animal characters, and encouraging young women comics artists to expand into animation.
