Spectral compositions work off the generation of harmonic and timbral music structures based upon the structure of frequencies. We'll be taking a look at works from Ensemble l'Itinéraire, which included the first composers of spectral music: Gérard Grisey, Tristan Murail, Michaël Lévinas. Then, we'll hear more recent compositions by Marcos Balter, Joshua Fineberg, as well as Christopher Cerrone and Ted Hearne of Sleeping Giant.
