Electricity consumer advocates, joined by commercial salmon fishermen, Native American tribes and conservation groups today called on customers of Pacific Power to join the struggle to remove four Klamath dams – and save themselves some money.
Pacific Power is a subsidiary of Pacificorp. The company has refused a proposal to remove four dams on the Klamath River, instead putting the cost of an upgrade on reatepayers.
Economic reports by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the California Energy Commission conclude that removing the outdated dams is cheaper than making the upgrades necessary to get a new operating license.
