Fisher Poets
The annual Fisher Poets Gathering is this weekend, Feb 26th-28th in Astoria. For Portlanders who can't get to the coast, 7 Fisher Poets from Alaska, Arkansas and Washington, as well as local poets Lara Messersmith-Glavin and Moe Bowstern are staging a night of storytelling, poetry and song at Salvage Works in Kenton at 6:30 pm on the 24th.
Today on Political Perspectives we'll get a preview of that event as we speak with fisher poet Moe Bowstern, Alaskan fisher poet Steve Schoonmaker and Perry Broderick, the son of Jon Broderick, one of the founders of the Festival. He is also the son of Doreen Broderick, who has been a huge behind-the-scenes force in the gathering as well as the subject of several of Jon's songs. Perry Brown has fished his entire life and now works in IT/communications for Ocean Outcomes in Portland.
Tune in for stories, poetry and more!
