Siobhann Tighe, Bringing Voices from the Inside to the Public
Siobhann Tighe is a broadcast journalist from the United Kingdom based in London. She works for the BBC and was recently the head of National Prison Radio(http://www.prisonradioassociation.org/national-prison-radio/), a radio station created for prisoners by prisoners. National Prison Radio broadcasts in prisons in England and Wales. Siobhann visited KBOO on October 27th while she was on a fellowship from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. She traveled to Sweden, Washington D.C., Texas and Oregon to look at programs that bring the voices of people who are or who have been in prison to the public airwaves. Siobhann aimed to learn if these programs can create insight into a world most of us don't know about without being too risky to manage. When she spoke to Prison Pipeline Host, Amy Johnson, Siobhann hoped to propose a program to the BBC about custodial issues. This is her blog: http://siobhanntighe2002.wix.com/siobhannwcmt
