Oregon Prison Volunteers

 

Karen James with Judy and Rima, volunteers in the Oregon Department of Corrections who teach Sustainable Gardening Classes donated by Oregon State University Extension Services.  ODOC reports that 2,596 volunteers contribute 400,000 hours annually in Oregon’s 14 prisons throughout the state.  Programs include recovery and faith groups, Canine Companions, Living Yoga, Toastmasters, Writing, Hospice, American Veterans, and many others.  To become a ODOC volunteer, call 541.922.2089
