Who influences, controls, and owns other key aspects of our lives:  what we eat, the information we access, the environment, our own finances,  and our politicians? In short, who owns us? And what can we do about it?

During his tenure as Executive Director, he greatly expanded Earthjustice's legislative and communications staffs and led the organization during the critical years of the administration of President George W. Bush.

Founder of the Center for Media Democracy, John Stauber is an independent writer, organizer and activist.  He has co-authored six books including the best-sellers Toxic Sludge Is Good for You in 1995,  Trust Us We’re Experts in 2001 and a New York Times best-seller Weapons of Mass Deception in 2003.  In 1993 he founded the non-profit Center for Media and Democracy in Madison, Wisconsin to investigate and expose organized corporate and government propaganda, running it until retiring in 2009.  He lives in rural Wisconsin.
