KBOO is a proud media sponsor for the 2011 QDoc Film Festival

When: June 2nd - June 5th
Where: Clinton Street Theater

QDoc is the only festival in the United States, and only the second in the world, devoted exclusively to Queer Documentaries. More than a screening series - it is a fun, inspiring, and community-building event. Filmmaker attendance is a big part of the mix, with guests joining us from around the world to discuss their work. The Clinton Street neighborhood, with its numerous cafes and restaurants, becomes a mini queer district during the long weekend, enhancing the social aspects of the festival.

The full Festival line up has just been announced HERE

The legendary performance artist Joey Arias will be joining us on Opening Night for his ARIAS WITH A TWIST: THE DOCUFANTASY. Following this magical film, Joey will be joined by Thomas Lauderdale to sing a few for us at the Opening Night Party, located for the very first time downtown at Mother's Bar & Bistro. With drinks from Ninkasi, Firesteed and Absolut, catering from Mother's plus Joey and Thomas - wow - what an amazing way to kick off this year's QDoc Festival! Party seating is limited - buy in advance!

Closing QDoc is Becoming Chaz, the latest from acclaimed directors Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey (The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Party Monster). Becoming Chaz intimately traces Chaz Bono's personal and public life as he transitions from Chastity.   Well known as the child of famous parents Sonny and Cher, Chaz and his partner Jennifer navigate the inner and outer challenges of gender transition.

In between we have many wonderful films featuring rock stars, human rights activists, current hot topics, family and youth issues, the male physique and other exciting and entertaining subjects. Check it all out and spread the word.
