Are we any closer to real health care reform?

Are we any closer to real health care reform?

The U.S. Senate has set an 8 am vote on its health care reform bill. Senate Majority Harry Reid has secured his 60 votes, but at what cost to health care reform? The bill, which has been stripped of a Medicare buy-in option, has no other public option and imposes abortion restrictions, is drawing fire from House members even before to the process to reconcile the Senate and House versions begins - a situation that has raised the possibility that the White House will back off its demand for passage of a final bill before year's end.

This week on Voices from the Edge, Jo Ann and Dave will look at what the Senate bill means for health care reform, what's been lost in the year-long process, and what are the chances for essential elements like a public option to be revived.

The conversation doesn't end when the program does. You can join in additional discussion of the week's issue on our blog at kboo.fm/voicesfromtheedge (click on the "blog" tab). You'll find additional information, important links, comments from other listeners and commentary from Jo Ann and Dave. Have a question for our guests, but can't call in during the program? Post your questions on line so we can make them a part of the Voices discussion.
