The city of Portland is in the midst of determining what to do about the Critical Energy Infrastructure Hub that houses 90% of Oregon's liquid fuels, in rickety old tanks on liquefaction soil, on top of two earthquake faults. At the same time the Portland City Council is in the throes of how to deal with Zenith Energy, in the heart of the Hub, which brings numerous oil trains through the Portland area every week. We are at a pivotal moment when possibly these two curses upon our community can be remedied. Or not.
On this episode of Locus Focus we talk with Nick Caleb, the Breach Collective's Climate and Energy attorney, about the movement afoot to get the city to do the right thing and protect our community from the continuing threat these two entities pose to the region and the world.
