On this edition of Free Culture Radio: Human Rights Day.

Ever since it was first observed in 1950, December 10 is Human Rights Day. It commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, which set out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected.

The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights held a news conference on December 10 to mark the day. We hear remarks by the High Commissioner, Volker Turk.

Plus, Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) on the floor of the Senate speaking in support of S.3344, the Prohibiting Unauthorized Military Action in Venezuela Act.
