Our scheduled guest for today's show called in sick this morning so we are repeating the Locus Focus episode that aired last week on December 16.
As we transition to a truly renewable world two of the things we need less of are more and larger server farms and nuclear power reactors to feed them electricity. Yet that is the plan being hatched by Microsoft, Amazon and other tech giants. Amazon is eyeing Eastern Oregon as the home for giant server farms to expand their AI capabilities and they want to provide these facilities with electricity generated by brand new nuclear reactors to be built on the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Eastern Washington.
On this episode of Locus Focus we talk with Kelly Campbell, policy director for Columbia Riverkeeper, about why this is a very bad idea.
