Please join us on Thursday, October 31st at 10:30 am for Radiozine on KBOO Community Radio as we talk with Mwezi Odom, Uhuru! Campaign Chair and Matsemela Odom, International President of the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement about the upcoming West Coast Regional Action - Black People's March and Rally (Los Angeles) on Sat, Nov 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
On September 12, 2024, a federal jury in Tampa returned a contradictory and nonsensical verdict in the free speech trial of the century, where Chairman Omali Yeshitela, Penny Hess, and Jesse Nevel faced bogus charges of working as Russian agents. They found the Uhuru 3 not guilty of working as agents of Russia, but guilty of conspiring to work as agents of Russia. Uhuru 3 attorneys plan to appeal the conspiracy conviction. On October 10, they filed a motion asking the judge to throw out the conviction. Sentencing on the conspiracy conviction is November 25, with a maximum possible sentence of 5 years.
We will discuss the next steps in the Uhuru campaign to support the Uhuru 3, the upcoming Black People's March in Los Angeles, and the broader issues around the struggle for the liberation of African people.

About Mwezi Odom
Mwezi Odom is a leading member and organizer in the Uhuru Movement, a socialist and African Internationalist movement led by the African People's Socialist Party (APSP); founded in 1972.
In 2020 she joined the APSP’s mass organizations of International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement (InPDUM), All African Peoples Development and Empowerment Project (AAPDEP) and African National Women’s Organization (ANWO) to return her skills and contribute to the African Liberation Struggle. Using her skills and training as a mental health counselor and educator, Mwezi united with the principle that her skills do not belong to herself as an individual, but rather to the whole African nation, and its development. With this, Mwezi returned her skills in mental health/education to the All African Peoples Development and Empowerment Project (AAPDEP) where she developed the Mental Health committee, building dual and contending power mental health programming in the interest of offering genuine support to African people suffering from mental and physical health problems caused by colonialism.
In November 2021, Mwezi joined the African People’s Socialist Party to make herself useful to the vanguard organization of the the African working class. She now serves as the Secretary General for the APSP-USA and leads the Hands Off Uhuru! Hands Off Africa Defense Campaign fighting to stop the US govt and FBI attacks on Omali Yeshitela and the Uhuru 3!
Mwezi is a proud African woman, a lover of African Internationalism, and she believes Africa and African people will once again be a Free and self-governing people, in our lifetime. And, she is the mother to two of Africa’s best daughters.
