We're wrapping up KBOO's "Special Programming: Just For You" fundraising drive today in the neighborhood. Starting in March, the special programming has included tributes to Black History Month, World Radio Day, and International Women’s Day, along with bluegrass and metal music marathons. Certainly an eclectic offering designed to appeal to the great diversity of our community. So let's close the drive with a cherry on top, especially for listeners who love comedy and radio theater, by welcoming a very special guest -- David Ossman of the legendary Firesign Theatre

David is one of my audio comedy heroes. Perhaps yours as well. And a major reason why I got into radio. But please don’t hold that against him. He comes to us remotely, from his home on Whidbey Island, proving once again that you can be in two places at once on the radio! David will be talking about two of the Firesign Theatre's latest projects: Dope Humor of the Seventies, a whopping 144 minutes of archival material from the group's radio shows of the early 1970s, and George Leroy Tirebiter: The Complete Collection, which collects completely the performances featuring perhaps David's most famous character, with the able assistance of his fellow Firesigns and friends.

But wait, there's more! Thanks to the generosity of David and the incredible Firesign Theatre archivist Taylor Jessen, we're able to thank listeners who contribute during the drive (a minimum of $120 as a one-time donation or part of a sustaining membership) with digital downloads of both new Firesign Theatre releases -- Dope Humor of the Seventies and George Leroy Tirebiter: The Complete Collection -- plus a bonus of Firesign audio from the KBOO archives. The group has a long history with listener-supported community radio and KBOO. In fact, the very last radio performance of all four Firesigns took place at KBOO in December 2011.

Please join us for a very special conversation with David. It's another beautiful day in the neighborhood!
