With this largely awful year nearly behind us, I figured why not end on a particularly high note.
So it's with some fanfare that I present a new (probably) three part, rather intermittent series of shows dubbed 'Not Quite New Years.'
Each broadcast will be a compilation from gigs spanning many years, BUT within several days of December 31st. Between 1966 and 1972, The Grateful Dead only skipped playing New Year's Eve in 1967. Today's show will focus on 1969 and 1970 because audio leading up to New Year's before 1969 is scarce, and no gigs fit from 1971 or 1972. As their next New Year's Eve show is four years later in 1976, I decided this special will feature a loose 'early-middle-late' sensibility.
In this show, you'll hear lots of (then) newer songs mixed in with some old favorites.
